Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • At the time of submission, the authors of the manuscript must not have had a publication in the journal *Horizontes*—whether as an author or co-author of any text, in any format—within the preceding 12 months.
  • Each manuscript may have a maximum of three authors (one author and two co-authors), at least one of whom must hold a Doctoral degree. Prior to the submission process, the author and all co-authors must complete full registration on the journal's website and authenticate their ORCID ID. The submission must be made using the same email addresses provided during registration.

ATTENTION: The "surname" is considered to be the last name—the name referenced in citations. All other names must be entered in the "first name" field. Example: Maria José da Silva Sousa Santos / First Name: Maria José da Silva Sousa / Surname: Santos
  • In the event that a manuscript is approved for publication, during the final stage of text editing, the authors are responsible for submitting the final version of the text for normative language and formatting review (including abstracts in foreign languages). This review must be conducted by a qualified professional team with experience in the field, as designated by the editors of *Horizontes*. The completion of a preliminary review prior to the manuscript's approval does not exempt the authors from undertaking this normative language review (the final editing stage, which precedes the publication of the approved manuscript). Upon submission of the revised version, a declaration issued by the professional who performed the normative language review of the approved manuscript will be required. The associated costs are the responsibility of the authors.
  • By submitting their manuscript for evaluation by the journal *Horizontes*, authors holding a doctoral degree agree to serve as article reviewers for future issues.
  • The submission file must be in Microsoft Word format (using the Horizontes template) and contain no information that would allow for the identification of the authors or the institutions and publications associated with them (author information will be recorded solely as METADATA, accessible only to the editors).
  • The text must adhere to the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in the "Guidelines for Authors" section on the "About the Journal" page. The text will be accepted only if formatted using the journal's template.
  • The manuscript must be original and of the exclusive authorship of the authors named in the system's metadata. It is the authors' duty to ensure that, in the event of using other references, proper citations are provided in accordance with academic standards and ethical principles.
  • If the text being submitted is derived from a thesis or dissertation, it is important to disclose this information to the editors using the "Pre-evaluation Discussion" field. Example: "This work is derived from a dissertation/thesis." Please do not include this or any other information within the file itself that could reveal the authorship. Details regarding the dissertation or thesis will be added only during the text's editing stage, once it has been approved.
  • The text must be original and unpublished, and must not have been simultaneously submitted to other periodicals for evaluation and publication.
