Ethical Conduct
The Journal is committed to respecting the ethical issues of the manuscript submission, evaluation, and publication process (articles, essays, interviews, reviews, and experience reports). The checks aim to ensure transparency in the process and good ethical practices regarding manuscripts.
1) Submission
Initially, submitted manuscripts undergo an initial analysis, a check, observing: whether at least one of the authors holds a doctoral degree; whether the authors have observed the one-year (12-month) interval between publications; whether the metadata is correctly filled out to avoid publication impediments; whether the rule regarding unpublished publication has been considered; and whether the submitted manuscript is similar to other publications by the authors already published or even to other publications.
2) Evaluation
The journal adopts a system for verifying the similarities of submitted manuscripts.
The editors verify:
- Whether there is information about the manuscript's authorship within the text, whether by referencing that the manuscript is the result of a thesis or dissertation, or even by referencing the authors within the text and in the References, so as not to violate the blind review rule. Information about the manuscript being the result of a thesis or dissertation is important and must be provided in the metadata with the address of the location where it is available in the "Information for the Editor" field.
- The journal uses a plagiarism/self-plagiarism control system with the Plagius tool; therefore, it is the authors' responsibility to verify that all citations within the manuscript are properly referenced and in the list of authors at the end, in the references.
- If the manuscript is the result of research involving human subjects, authors are asked to provide the CAAE number from the CEP/Conep in the metadata in the "Information for the Editor" field, and we also request that authors inform the reader within the text, as well as in a footnote, once approved for publication. If the research has not been submitted to an ethical review by the CEP/CONEP system, the authors of the manuscript may adopt the term "Self-Declaration of Ethical Principles and Procedures", available at: https://anped.org.br/e-books/ (v1, pp. 205-211).
Authors should pay attention to the ethical considerations required for highly vulnerable populations (children and adolescents under 18 years of age; people with disabilities and disorders; the elderly, indigenous people, quilombola people, people in situations of risk: families at psychosocial risk; people deprived of liberty, etc.).
3) Authorship and co-authorship
It is recommended that authors and co-authors decide the order of authorship and co-authorship at the time of submission, as well as the institution of origin of the authors, communicating this to the publishers at the time of submission, if necessary. According to the Ethics and Integrity in Scientific Practice Document/CNPQ, only those who collaborated in the preparation of the research, in the bibliographic or field research, in the data analysis, or made another significant contribution to the manuscript should be authors and co-authors.
4) Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
If the authors use AI at any stage of the manuscript, whether in conceptualization, methodology, field research, data collection and analysis, or manuscript review, they must describe which type(s) of AI were used in the submission in "Information to the Editor." And also to the readers within the text. The use of AI must be duly reported during submission and to readers in a clear and transparent manner. In case of incomplete information, it will be up to the editors and reviewers to reject the manuscript; the responsibility for the analyses and reflections presented is entirely attributed to the authors of the text. In the final review, a self-declaration will be requested to be placed in the text for the readers.
For further information, please refer to CNPQ Ordinance No. 2664, of 06/03/2026 - CNPQ's Policy on Integrity in Scientific Activity, available at http://memoria2.cnpq.br/web/guest/view/-/journal_content/56_INSTANCE_0oED/10157/23142775?COMPANY_ID=10132
5) General Observations:
- All submissions to the journal are a confidential process. The editors, associate editors, and the reviewer/peer reviewer body are responsible for the manuscript, which must be published via the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
- Manuscripts will be evaluated by two reviewers in a blind review process; any conflict of any nature will be resolved by the editors and associate editors. In the case of manuscripts submitted to thematic sections, the resolution will be the responsibility of the section organizers with the approval of the editors.
